(One Semester, half credit course)
Prerequisites:
9th-12th grade classification
Geometry knowledge and skills highly recommended

This course provides the student with an understanding of Computer-Aided Drafting principles, as well as an understanding of manual (hand) drafting procedures. Students will utilize state-of-the-art design software to complete a number of typical and practical drafting application exercises.  The student will be introduced to the engineering design and problem solving process through hands-on, creative construction and design problems.  The student will begin drawing by hand using drafting tools before moving to the CAD software.  Through this course, the student will work individually and in groups to develop and modify products to solve real problems.  This is a prerequisite course for Engineering Graphics and Architectural Graphics and will provide an overview of all areas in the drafting field.  If you have a desire to create and improve upon products and a natural curiosity about how things work, this is the class for you!
